Reliability Centered Lubrication (RCL) is an approach to lubrication focused on designing a program for lubrication and oil analysis considering operational conditions, best practices, and modifications required to both machine and facility. Implementation of an RCL program is carried out utilizing an RCL Design Process, Implementation, and Sustainability. A current state analysis is an excellent starting point, comparing one's own facility to best practices. Understanding equipment needs including engineering calculations and operating conditions for lubrications amounts and frequencies. Putting a lubrication program in place includes implementation of sustainable lubrication routes that add value, coupled with lubrication storage best practices. Finally, sustainment of the lubrication program is founded with lubrication metrics and KPIs that guide continuous improvement.
This presentation provides an introduction to Reliability Centered Lubrication including a case study and tips for getting started.
